Peacocks and Peahens, please give a warm welcome to our newly appointed School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Dean - Dr. Mervyn Maico D. Aldana - As of June 1, 2024, this master of innovation will pave the way for development from the kitchen to the skies.

Dr. Aldana is also a proud alumnus of our department, from his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration majoring in Hotel and Restaurant management to his doctorate of Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality and Tourism Management. Furthermore, He has also earned a certificate from ISCAHM on the Fundamentals of Culinary Arts.

With 14 years of teaching experience, he has shown his relevance and significance to our department through his achievements, from being a Practicum Coordinator to being the Outcome Based Education Coordinator leaving a remarkable impact as the Hospitality Department achieved an International Accreditation from ACPHA (Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration) in his term.

As the new Dean, Dr. Aldana plans to continue previous effective programs and focus his attention on refining our department for the students and the educators alike. He also intends to improve practicum programs for 4th-year students, expand industry partnerships to broaden the practicum venues and strengthen international practicum programs to further offer it as a possible training location for graduating students.

His ambitions are to cultivate our department also extend to sustainability and waste management objectives, advocacy involvement, increased community services, and improved skill learning by bringing back high-impact student activities.

As we all approach a new chapter this school year, all eyes are on Dr. Aldana, whose visions are set to shape the future of education and lead the SHTM Department to innovation.
